About NLTLB
I've just started but read on and find out about me and how I plan to improve this site.
Shannon McKenna
I started teaching French and Spanish in high schools in the Philadelphia area and after many years, I moved to Florida where I have also been teaching.
I completed the Master Gardener Program through the University of Florida and I love to be outside and mowing, mulching, weeding, and most of all, planting. Great therapy!
I now teach at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School in Spring Hill, Florida, a little north of Tampa. It is a laptop school, and an exciting place to teach.
Hope to hear from you. Merci beaucoup.
No Language Teacher Left Behind came about after many years of teaching and two years of subbing. During that time, I, like many other teachers, had periods of doubt about my profession. Was I doing a good job, how could I get some help with ideas for class, how do I promote the need for learning a foreign language. Even during the subbing period, I saw many teachers who were outstanding, caring, hard-working, but who were frustrated about a variety of things. This site is for all teachers of world languages who would like to find some support among their peers. Hopefully, many of you will add your own suggestions, thoughts, and ideas to the site. Please contact me with your ideas and, if possible, a story that would inspire others to continue their work in spite of the many frustrations that face all teachers.
I am from Chicago but lived most of my life in the Philadelphia suburbs. I graduated from Dunbarton College of Holy Cross in Washington DC and received my masters degree from Villanova University. My major was French but I have also obtained certificaiton in Spanish.
After graduating from college, I worked for a little more than a year for the federal government in Washington. Then I decided to try teaching and fell in love with that.
Knockout rose from my garden!
